A “person of interest” in the recent shooting of a woman at a Benton City apartment was arrested Thursday in Pasco. Christian M. Hernandez, 24, was picked up at 6:30 p.m. by the Benton County sheriff ’s gang enforcement team . Hernandez, who’s also known as “Lil Criminal” and “Phat Boy,” is being held on investigation of illegal gun possession and a hold from the state Department of Corrections. Mariah Coronado, 22, was shot in the back Aug. 18 at an apartment at Eighth Street and Della Avenue. Several other people were in the apartment at the time. Investigators have said it wasn’t clear if the shooting was an accident. Coronado was picked up by an acquaintance and driven to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. He is suspected of shooting Mariah Coronado in the back with a rifle. A suspect and two witnesses in a Friday shooting in Benton City have fled the state. The Benton County Sheriff ’s Office said in a news release that Christian Michael Hernandez , 24, is headed to Southern California. Jazmin Marie Torres , 25, and Francisco Morales Jr ., 24, are said to be with him. Hernandez is suspected of shooting Mariah Renee Coronado , 22. The woman was shot in the back with a rifle and found in her apartment. Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Brockman said deputies spoke to Coronado on Saturday and that “everything’s pointing to it being an accident.” However, Brockman said, Hernandez is a convicted felon. That automatically bars him from touching a gun. An acquaintance picked up Coronado from her apartment at 703 8th Street and rushed her to Kadlec Regional Medical Center . MOUNT VERNON — A fourth suspect in the Aug. 1 shooting death of a Mount Vernon man was arrested Monday afternoon in Kennewick. The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force , in conjunction with the Benton County Sheriff ’s Office, arrested the man at 2:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of West Fourth Street , Mount Vernon Police Lt . Chris Cammock said. He is one of four people arrested in connection with the death of 38-year-old Jason Boyes. The others being held in connection with Boyes’ death are Isaac Manuel Carrasco Jr ., 21; Hayden John Allen Picaman , 19; and Angel Lopez-Rueda, 18. All pleaded not guilty Aug. 10 to one count each of second-degree murder. Carrasco and Picaman are both being held on $1 million bond. Lopez-Rueda is being held on $500,000. POCATELLO — An Idaho State University student is facing multiple felony charges after police say he held a motorist at knifepoint, forcing the motorist to give him a ride. Police said 23-year-old Saud Khalid Almudaiheem , a student from Saudi Arabia who is living in Pocatello, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one felony charge of second- degree kidnapping . Around 2 a.m. Sunday, police said they received a call from a motorist claiming that Almudaiheem brandished a black box- cutter style knife and demanded a ride from the Jacksons Food Stores on South Fifth Avenue to an area near the Ridgecrest Apartments on Bartz Way.
