Man Suspected in Killing of Estranged Wife, Prior Disappearance of 9-Year-Old Son Is Fatally Shot by Officers in Encino

Investigators remained Wednesday morning at the Encino scene where police fatally shot a man suspected of killing his estranged wife in Santa Maria and fleeing with their 9-year-old son. Information provided by police Tuesday night was preliminary and no detailed update has been given Wednesday morning . Justin Eisenberg, the Los Angeles Police Department ’s chief of detectives, said Tuesday night that Morozov was shot after he emerged from an apartment in the 5500 block of Lindley Avenue , at the edge of Tarzana. The street remained blocked off until about 8 a.m. Wednesday. Related Content SANTA MARIA, Calif. - An officer- involved shooting in Los Angeles County has left a murder suspect connected to an Amber Alert out of Santa Maria dead Tuesday night .  48-year-old Konstantin Morozov was taken to the hospital in critical condition but police confirmed he died from his injuries during a press briefing. The shooting occurred in Tarzana, California just before 7 p.m. The Santa Maria Police Department said it received a tip Tuesday morning that Morozov was in an apartment located in the 5500 block of Lindley Avenue in Tarzana/Encino. "We had a variety of tips whether they were due to the Amber Alert of from folks just seeing cars or people looking that seem similar and talking to everyone involved--family members or otherwise.
