Chief: Construction kept McPherson fire from spreading | Local News

Nearly all residents of the McPherson Park senior housing complex have returned to their residences after a kitchen fire broke out in an apartment Friday night , a Gloucester Housing Authority administrator said Monday. The building’s construction played a role in firefighters being able to confine the blaze to the single unit, said  Fire Chief Eric Smith and Alice Sheridan, assistant executive director of the  housing authority , which owns and manages the six-story building at 31 Prospect St. The man whose apartment was destroyed by the kitchen fire has been relocated to another apartment within the 97-unit building, Sheridan said.  Neither she nor Smith could provide information Monday on the status of a woman who was rescued by firefighters and taken to Addison Gilbert Hospital after she fell inside her fourth- floor apartment while trying to evacuate. Youngstown news, Police were called to 2 heroin-related incidents at an Austintown apartment Monday

Staff report AUSTINTOWN Police reports initiated two hours apart from one another detail two drug-related, but unrelated, incidents at a Westchester Drive apartment complex . An apparent overdose victim and narcotics equipment were found at Westchester Square Apartments , 4821 Westchester Drive early Monday , reports said. Police and firefighters administered the opioid- reversal drug naxolone to revive a 38-year-old Youngstown man in a resident’s apartment at 12:10 a.m., the report said. Upon arriving, police said they found the man with a blue face and breathing shallow breaths . Police administered two doses of naloxone and firefighters administered two additional doses, the report said. The man was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after resuscitation, the report said. Police confiscated a water bottle containing four syringes and found an additional syringe in the resident’s bathroom, the report said. Police were called about 1:48 a.m. to the same co...
