UPPER WEST SIDE , NY — About 20 pounds of heroin and fentanyl were seized after federal, state and city law enforcement agencies raided an Central Park West apartment doubling as a drug mill, the New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced Monday . Four men are facing charges for operating a heroin and fentanyl packaging operation out of the apartment following the sting led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration ’s, NYPD, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the New York State Police . A saga spanning the last year and a half over whether Lafayette's Circle Motel — a collection of ramshackle buildings with an even grainier past — should remain preserved as a part of the city's history was decided earlier this week, and it looks like the venerable motel will be allowed to redevelop. The news came to the delight of the owner, Mike Macinko, whose disdain for the dilapidated buildings has led to the spectacle of an owner actively, and publicly, campaigning to demolish his own property. The City Council tabled the discussion in December after being unable to find whether or not the structures on the property were of " overwhelming historical significance to the community," as required under the city's Historical Preservation Board . But it's doubtful the sign refers to the nearly three-tenths of a mile of trees that have been cut down and shrubs that have been ripped up along St. Andrews Drive. The landscaping work has increased the visibility of the apartments. It also has raised the ire of Wilmington officials who have slapped the complex's owner with a $200 fine for each tree allegedly removed illegally . With 231 trees cut down, the fine totals $46,200. ROSEVILLE, Calif. (KCRA) — The deadline for some renters at the Shadowbrook Apartments in Roseville to vacate their units for renovations is Monday. Some residents told KCRA 3 they were recently visited by a law enforcement officer and the property manager, and told they could face charges and be arrested if they didn't leave by Monday.  Advertisement Watch report: Roseville renters given deadline to move out "We think that is horrible," said Darlene Reid, a resident of the complex, who said she felt intimidated. Last year, the Miami- Dade County Commission shot down a plan that would have forced local developers to include some affordable apartments in every new project. Commissioner Javier Souto claimed the idea was "social engineering," one of the most profoundly stupid things said in South Florida politics this decade.
