Missoula nonprofit to purchase 160-unit apartment complex for affordable housing | Local

A nonprofit in Missoula is set to purchase 160 units of apartments next to the Clark Fork River in Missoula in order to preserve them as affordable housing . Homeword is currently in the process of buying the Creekside Apartments on East Broadway, which are currently owned by an out-of-state company. The apartments are currently available to people earning $27,720 or less annually, which is 60 percent or less of the area median income of $46,200 per person. However, the affordable restriction was set to expire in 2026, at which point the property would most likely have been converted into market rate rentals due to its desirable location. This would have made them "prime" for rent increases that would likely have caused the majority of residents to have to seek a place to live at lower rates elsewhere in an already competitive rental market , according to Homeword executive director Andrea Davis . “We know that rentals are in high demand here and there’s a significant ne...

Two-bedroom on border of Logan and Avondale rents for $1,275

Image
Believe it or not, it’s about time that time of the year where students are preparing to head back to class. Summer has breezed by but the rental market remains quite competitive. If you’re a university student still looking for a place, here’s one in Avondale that rents for $1,275 for a two-bedroom. Located in a classic brick three-flat, this two-bedroom apartment is available September, 1 just as classes start. Finishes in this one are rental grade, but photos reveal that the place is bright and sunny. Big perks include central heat and air and an extra storage space in the building. The landlord is also pet friendly too, as the listing indicates that dogs and cats are allowed. It’s not your luxury apartment in a new glassy Milwaukee Avenue mid -rise, but this is one that a couple of students should be able to afford. 2828 N Lawndale Ave #3F [Domu]

Douglas Elliman’s Sonia Stock on Her Journey From Tennis Pro to Broker – Commercial Observer

Among the residential brokers who take a whack at commercial, there is a steep learning curve . The businesses, everyone will tell you, are extremely different. Success in one rarely translates to success in another, and very few manage the transition. But Sonia Stock, an associate broker at Douglas Elliman, is good at taking a whack at things—be it a tennis ball or a client from out of nowhere. Like this one time… In the summer of 2004, Stock (then focused solely on residential) had a dental appointment in Union, N.J. Coming from New York and being a runner, she figured she’d take the train from Penn Station to Rahway (the station closest to her appointment) and sprint the eight miles to her dentist. But when the train arrived late , she knew running wouldn ’t get her there in time. So the experienced world traveler hit the side of the road and stuck out her thumb and was picked up by a woman in a Mercedes. “We got along very well,” Stock said, recalling what would turn out to be one...
