UPDATE: The fire at Tivoli Apartments has been declared as an accidental fire with an undetermined cause, stated by Seminole County public information officer Paula Thompson . The Seminole Building Official determined the fire- damaged apartment building is unsafe to enter. Advertisement “This is primarily due to the thousands of gallons of water utilized during extinguishment of the fire that creates a potential risk for a ceiling collapse that could have hundreds of pounds of weight falling on someone inside the structure,” reads a statement released by Seminole County Fire Department . The building has been handed back over to Tivoli property management . The American Red Cross , University of Central Florida and Tivoli Property Management are working to relocate residents. During the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees meeting Aug . 18, President Houston Davis spoke on the white nationalist rally that recently took place in Charlottesville, Virginia. The rally was led by white supremacists and neo-Nazis and ended in the death of one 32-year-old counter protester. Davis said that through media reports and conversations, most in the community know what occurred during the event and as a new resident of Arkansas, was “very heartened” by the strong statement Gov . A novelist hunts for complicated narratives at the sites of historical atrocities I learned to snorkel mid-winter in an indoor pool in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. The air was stifling, thick with the smell of chlorine. There was nothing to see in the pool and no explanation given for the purpose of this middle school gym unit ; maybe our teachers dreamed we’d go on island vacations. I don’t remember ever snorkeling again until 2010 when I traveled to a research station on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas where I’d teach a Caribbean literature course and where I’d start writing a novel about the sediment of history’s layers.
