BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Wednesday is the first day of school for thousands of Binghamton University students . Some will live in dorms on campus or downtown and others will live in the brand new U Club town homes and apartments. The over 230,000 square foot community is located in the Vestal Plaza and holds 140 fully furnished units which house 562 beds. The buildings contain study centers, a fitness center, hot tubs, BBQ pits, a golf simulator and easy transportation to campus. Students say it’s these qualities and more that drew them to choose U Club. Amanda Sayger, a Junior at Binghamton University who lived in dorms in the past said, “I really like the location, because it's really close to all the food place which is easy access. Also it's five minutes away from campus, I do have my car but I don't want to have to drive a lot and they have the shuttle buses which takes you back and forth to campus, so that's really convenient and they run every half hour.” Along wit...

Pabst Mansion historian John C. Eastberg takes us inside Milwaukee’s most famous residence. Milwaukee has long been synonymous with beer, so it’s altogether appropriate that one of the city’s greatest architectural landmarks should be the historic Pabst Mansion . Built by Pabst Brewing Company president Frederick Pabst at the height of Milwaukee’s mansion-building era of the 1890s, the home occupies a place on Grand Avenue (now Wisconsin Avenue), a street which at the time was lined with literally dozens of mansions built by the city’s newly moneyed class . Grand Avenue was a far cry from Pabst’s roots as a young immigrant from Germany who arrived with his parents in the frontier town of Milwaukee in 1848. As a teenager, Pabst signed on as a cabin boy on a Great Lakes steamer , eventually attaining the rank of captain by the time he was 21. (HFF) announced today that it has secured fixed-rate financing for Ventana Apartments, a 390-unit, Class A multi-housing community in San Antonio, Texas.Working on behalf of the borrower, Venterra Realty, HFF placed the five-year, 3.06 percent fixed-rate loan with a life company correspondent lender .  Loan proceeds were used to acquire the asset.
