The manhunt continued Thursday for the shooter who killed a 22-year-old man at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida on Wednesday. Colin Marcel Jackson was identified Thursday as the man found dead inside an apartment at Campus Crossing Alafaya about 6:30 p.m., officials said. "Witnesses reported seeing the victim and an unknown black male involved in an altercation prior to hearing the shots," said Lourdes Clayton, spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff 's Office. Jackson was not a UCF student and it's unclear if he lived in the apartment complex, officials said. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Jackson's criminal history includes a Dec. 30 arrest at same apartment complex on the following charges: aggravated assault with a firearm, armed burglary of dwelling with a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft. According to one of the victims, who lived at Campus Crossing Alafaya , J...

Top 10 Rippers Worse Than Jack

Image
Crime Todd H Martin August 17, 2017 All of you know who Jack the Ripper is. Some of you know that the name comes from a letter to the police signed “Jack the Ripper” by the purported killer. But why “ripper”? A ripper is “a tool that is used to tear or break something,” and the victims were actually torn open. After Jack’s killings, however, “ripper” came to mean “a murderer who mutilates victims’ bodies.” You can thank the media for that. Just like “gate” is added to any political scandal, the press now calls any killer who is bloody enough a ripper. It makes for a great headline because of the fear the word “ripper” conjures in the public’s mind. If the victims are prostitutes, so much the better. Over the last 100 years, the press has invoked “ripper” numerous times. But many of these rippers killed more than Jack did—some a lot more. Here is a list of serial killers more deadly than Jack with his five confirmed murders. 10 Ypsilanti RipperSeven Victims Before Ted Bundy slaughtere...

Arlington Police Investigate Double Murder At Stone Canyon Apartments « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

Image
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Police in Arlington say they’re looking for answers in what they have determined is a double murder on the city’s north side. Two bodies were found at the Stone Canyon Apartments just before noon Saturday. “Nothing points to a murder-suicide, it appears this is a double homicide ,” according to Arlington police Lt . Christopher Cook. Police say a family member discovered the victims. A door was partly open. An adult man and adult woman were dead inside. “It appears potentially that the apartment had been ransacked inside and so we’re waiting for the medical examiner and some of our other detectives to make the scene before we actually process the inside of the scene,” said Lt. Cook. As they waited, officers talked to grieving family members to determine who the victims are, if they even lived in the apartment, and if anyone might want to harm them. The crime shook up neighbors, who say it is out or character for this normally quiet, peaceful area. Arlington...

think rooftop vegie patches and beehives

The long retail spine of Sydney Road, Brunswick, just north of Melbourne's CBD, was once a prosperous trading outpost on the way to the goldfields. These days it's a bohemian mix of variety stores, op shops, halal butchers and Lebanese bakeries. Take a side street to the west, however, and a different picture emerges. Sandwiched between Sydney Road and the Upfield train line is an area undergoing rapid and widespread transformation. Light industry is fast being replaced by mid- rise apartment buildings , their inhabitants attracted by the short commute into town and cheaper prices than in the city's south-east. The quality of these units is, on the whole, depressingly bad; think poor ventilation and bedrooms that "borrow" natural light (a weasel word for being dark and windowless). The occasional jazzy façade tries feebly to make up for otherwise cheap construction amid a chorus of greys. At ground level, carpark roller doors alternate with mean pocket garden...
