View Full Caption DNAinfo/Maya Rajamani CHELSEA — The new owner of a West 26th Street building plans  to tear it down to make way for a “high-end” apartment complex — just steps from a stalled construction site that has continued to be a magnet for rats and trash, neighbors said. Gary Vinbaytel purchased the five- story building at 128 W. 26th St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues, which formerly housed the restaurant Tre Dici , for around $10.1 million in July. He recently filed for permits to demolish the current building and construct a 14-story, mixed-use building in its place, city Department of Buildings records show . A teenager was unable to save her 5-year-old sister from their burning apartment Tuesday night when roaring flames turned the apartment into an inferno, making it impossible to get to the second-floor where the child was watching television, officials said. East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Dr . "Beau" Clark identified the girl as Treasure Garner, although her family says her last name is Hadley. She died in the fire at the Cedarwood Apartments on Cedarcrest Avenue . The fire started around 7 p.m. and burned for more than three hours, spreading to more than 10 apartments before firefighters could bring it under control. Treasure's 18-year-old sister had earlier helped the child get ready for bed, then turned on a television on the second floor of the apartment for the little girl to watch while the teen went to the first-floor kitchen to prepare dinner, said Brant Thompson, chief deputy of the State Fire Marshal 's Office, according to accounts gathered by the F...

There are probably many people who don't remember that OJ Simpson was found liable for murder back in 1997. With all the Hollywood weirdness of the earlier criminal trial in which he was declared innocent, there was another civil trial by jury that determined he was liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. One juror claimed after hearing Simpson 's testimony that “he was not credible,” and another said that “ finding OJ Simpson liable of the murders and acting with oppression and malice was one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make.”  When The Juice made headlines recently with the news that he would be released from prison after serving nine years for armed robbery, I pulled up this old photo of him with the man who currently lives in the White House and immediately thought of this song.
