In recent years, thousands of full-time residents have moved into apartments built on the southern end of the 11-mile corridor, which has been renowned for industry gatherings, shopping and attractions. Plans call for thousands more renters — and schools. "It's kind of the rebranding of I-Drive right now," said Luann Brooks, executive director of the I- Drive Business Improvement District . A local drug lord demanded that Raxcaco and his chaperone pay $800 for safe passage across the border, where criminal gangs ferry humans and drugs across daily, and where police presence is almost non-existent, he said in an interview with AL.com. Poor and desperate to reach the U.S., Raxcaco was detained in a hotel in the Mexican region of Senora for a day until his aunt in Semmes, Alabama, gathered the money for the drug lord. A Virginia woman is fighting to block manslaughter charges filed against a Bronx high school student accused of killing a man who was attacking the 18-year-old’s mom. The Delaware County coroner ruled the death a suicide, according to WTHR-TV. Hollywood, 19, redshirted last season after averaging 17.5 points and 7.8 rebounds his senior year at Bradley- Bourbonnais Community High School . “On behalf of Ball State University , it is with profound sadness that we learned today of the passing of Zachary “Zach” Hollywood, a student from Bradley, Illinois,” the school said in a statement. “Zach has been a part of our family for the past year. During his time on campus, he was a member of men’s basketball team and made many positive impressions throughout campus.This is a tragedy. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends and teammates." This is another sad loss for Hollywood's family, as his mother Susan died last August.
