SAN ANTONIO - A woman who moved to a North Side community to escape crime is feeling disappointed. She said crime has increased in the area. The latest incident is a shooting that happened at her apartment complex over the weekend. The Avana Stone Canyon Apartments are located on Encino Commons just off Highway 281. The resident, who has lived at the apartment complex for years, was afraid to reveal her identity but still wanted to voice her concerns about crime in the whole area.  "When I first moved here the gate was always closed. We had individual numbers. The lights were always lit. It was a good community base ," she said. The woman believes things have gone downhill. LAKEWOOD, Wash. (AP) - A convicted sex offender has been charged in connection with breaking into several apartments while naked south of Tacoma. Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist says Curtis Sell was charged Wednesday with three counts of burglary with sexual motivation in connection with the break-ins and failure to register as a sex offender. Lindquist says police responded to a Lakewood apartment building Aug . 2 where a woman reported that she awoke to a naked man removing the fan from her bedroom window. She told police after she screamed and her boyfriend came in the room, the man ran away. Lindquist says that morning investigators were called to other nearby residences where two other women reported similar stories . In all three instances, Lindquist says, the women positively identified Sell from a photo line-up. The Arlington mother and her children at the center of a controversial arrest July 3 are staying at their apartment, despite an eviction notice that told them to leave by Thursday, their attorney said. “She will be staying here until she is forcibly removed,” attorney Kim T. Cole said at a news conference outside the Addison Park apartments in Arlington. “She has nowhere to go. She’s not from here. There’s no reason in voluntarily making her and her five children homeless.” Cole said Latasha Nelson and her children will stay at the apartment until Addison Park management returns with a court order to move forward with the eviction. Addison Park management has not responded to requests for comment. The controversy stems from the arrests of Nelson’s teenage sons July 3 .
