Parma Heights police investigating apartment complex robberies

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Parma Heights police are investigating whether a series of armed robberies are connected after multiple people were robbed at two different apartment complexes.

The robberies happened Sunday and Monday in Parma Heights at Hidden Cove Apartments north of Pearl Road and Big Creek Apartments and Townhomes off of Stumph Road, police say.

No one was hurt in any of the robberies, and no arrests have been made.

The first two robberies happened Sunday about 4:30 p.m. at Hidden Cove Apartments, Detective Adam Sloan said.

Three women went to the apartment complex to meet a friend. When they got to the apartment building door, three men with semi-automatic handguns stole their purses, cellphones and keys, Sloan said.

The three men robbed another man who went to the apartment complex to meet one of his friends. They stole his cellphone and his vape pen, according to a police report.

The third robbery happened just after 12:30 a.m. Monday at Big Creek Apartments.

A man told police he was taking his garbage to the dumpster when he saw someone in the distance.

He went to his car to get something when someone put a gun to his face, police say.

The report states the robber took his cellphone, but Sloan said the man may have lost it. It is unknown where his cell phone was at the time of the robbery.
