Man bludgeons Craigslist prostitute to death on Long Island
A Long Island woman hired for sex via Craigslist was bludgeoned to death with a hammer when her unhinged client didn’t want to pay, authorities said Thursday.
The 25-year-old woman, who was not identified, met with suspect Raphael Oyague, 36, after linking up with him on the classifieds posting site Tuesday night, a Nassau County Police Department spokesman said.
At some point during the carnal quid-pro-quo, an argument over compensation led Oyague to attack the victim with a hammer, Nassau County Detective. Lt. Richard Le Brunk said.
Two delivery workers found the woman’s battered body in the weeds behind Oyague’s apartment building on Merrick Road in Baldwin shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Detectives later found a trail of blood leading from the body to an area near Oyague’s back door, where they cuffed the alleged killer, officials said.
Oyague was calmly smoking near the body before his arrest, a neighbor said.
“I didn’t realize it was a dead body at first,” said Irma Hernandez, 41, who co-owns a billiard saloon next to the alleged killer’s home.
The two exchanged pleasantries just as police arrived to make the arrest.
“He looked normal,” she said. “He looked like he was waiting for the police. He didn’t even try to run. He didn’t try to hide the body.”
Oyague just moved into the area a few months ago and rarely socialized with others, Hernandez said.
“He looked like a loner, but subdued,” Hernandez said. “I never thought he was dangerous.”
Oyague, who has prior arrests for criminal contempt of an order of protection, assault and DWI, was awaiting arraignment on murder charges.
Police said the family of the victim, who is from Long Island, had not yet been notified of the killing.
