Deal Reached To Avert Strike In Keystone Oaks School District « CBS Pittsburgh

DORMONT, Pa. (KDKA) — The union for teachers in the Keystone Oaks School District announced a tentative agreement on a new contract, averting a strike that threatened to delay the start of the school year.

The Keystone Oaks Education Association made the announcement on its Facebook page Wednesday night.

There has been no statement from the Keystone Oaks School District.

The union had given notice to the district of its intent to strike if there was no agreement before midnight Thursday. The strike was to begin Aug. 24, the first scheduled day of school for students. In addition, the president of the union had said in a statement that it would pursue labor charges through the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board because the district had failed to bargain in good faith

Last March, another scheduled strike by Keystone Oaks teachers was avoided when the two sides signed a one-year contract extension. That contract expired on June 30.

Bloober Team’s Observer is here and it’s pretty darn great . Set almost exclusively in an apartment building, the game has you explore the lives of multiple residents living within Kraków slums (AKA The Stacks). Fire ravages Three Oaks apartment building: No injuries reported | News

THREE OAKS – No injuries were reported in an early morning fire that caused the evacuation of a 16-unit, two- story apartment building in Three Oaks on Saturday, Aug. 19. Fire Chief David Flick said the alarm of a structure fired came in at 5:40 a.m. and the middle section of the roof was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the Hidden Harbor Villas (formerly Oak Tree Apartments ) at 305 W. Locust St. The fire took about three hours to bring under control and wasn’t totally cleared until approximately 2 p.m. Peter Trigg said he came home from work at about 5:40 a.m. and immediately smelled burning plastic and heard popping sounds , went around to the back of the building and noticed that a second-floor unit’s deck was on fire. “I ran in, pulled the fire alarm as quick as I could, ran up the stairs and got my family out,” he said.
