Batteries stolen from fleet of trucks and other Riverview police reports | Police/Fire

●On July 24 a resident brought found property to the Riverview police station. The resident found a red box containing traffic triangles along the side of westbound King Road.

●A resident at American House Riverview Senior Living, 20300 Fort St., reported $350 stolen from a dresser in his bedroom. He reported the theft July 24 and said it occurred during the previous week.

●Hawkins Trucking, 17800 W. Jefferson, reported the theft of 26 batteries from its fleet of semitrucks. The thefts were reported to police shortly after 4:30 a.m. Aug. 3.

The owner said the batteries were disconnected properly and none of the battery cables were cut. Approximately 18 of the batteries were gel batteries, valued at $280 apiece; and eight batteries were standard batteries valued at $130 each. Additionally, a set of ignition keys for one of the trucks was missing.

The main gate to the property was left open throughout the night. The gate’s lock was broken at that time, rendering the property unable to be secured overnight.

The owner planned to check trail cameras to see if images of a thief may have been captured. Police said areas of where latent prints might have been left had already been touched by multiple employees while they inventoried the trucks.

●At around 2 p.m. Aug. 4, a larceny was reported in the parking lot at Rivergate Health Care Center, 14041 Pennsylvania Road. The victim said the thief smashed in the passenger-side window of her 2017 Dodge Challenger and stole her radio, valued at about $300. The cost to replace the broken window is about $250.

●On Aug. 9 a thief stole a 2006 Jeep Commander from a parking lot in the 14900 block of Brookview Drive. The victim said she was visiting her sister and that she left the vehicle running while she ran some groceries inside her sister’s apartment. She said she was inside the apartment for approximately 3 minutes.

Her purse was inside the Jeep and it contained her driver’s license, debit and credit cards. It also contained a prescription medication for her daughter.

The Jeep is red, has a dent on the front passenger side, and the letters CAC were on the hood.
