Throwback Thursdays - Kew Bolmer Apartments

The Kew Bolmer Apartment Building was opened in 1924. It was built on a triangular lot between Queens Boulevard (left) and Kew Gardens Road (right). People are seen entering and exiting the always busy Kew Gardens/Union Turnpike Train Station at the apex.
“Sarah Bolmer, was the president of the Bolmer Construction Company, organized in 1923. The building was built on land that was once part of her father’s farm. Her father, Daniel Foulk, purchased the land in 1851.” Long Island Press, Jan. 4, 1936. Photo was taken in the early 1940s.
