Bridgeview Police Reopen Harlem Avenue, Robbery Suspect Not Located
BRIDGEVIEW, IL — Updated 3:19 p.m. -- Harlem Avenue between 81st and 95th Streets has been reopened after Bridgeview police and other nearby police departments spent several hours searching for a robbery suspect. Police were unable to locate the suspect and it's unknown at this time if officers have called off their search.
The incident unfolded shortly before noon Thursday when a person was robbed on the property of the Salvation Army and Donation Center at 90th Street and Harlem Avenue. A similar robbery occurred there last week.

Update 1:21 p.m. -- Northbound traffic being diverted off Harlem Avenue on to 95th Street. Police are focused on an address in the 9000 block of South Harlem Avenue. Don't know if the suspect is inside or outside the building.
Update, 12:49 p.m.: 5th District SWAT has been activated, according to a police source.
Original story: Bridgeview Police and the Southwest Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are searching for an armed robber suspect near 90th Street and Harlem Avenue as of noon Thursday. An armed robbery is said to have taken place inside or near the Salvation Army building at 90th Street and Harlem Avenue. Traffic has been shut down on parts of Harlem Avenue at 90th Street. Motorists are asked to avoid the area. Police say it is similar to an attempted armed robbery that took place last week in the Salvation Army parking lot. A woman was confronted by a suspect armed with a weapon as she was going to her car. The suspect was never caught, according to Bridgeview police spokesman Ray Hanania. It is not known if the person being sought by police is the same suspect from last week. Police are said to be searching near some apartment buildings near 91st Street and Harlem. There is concern for some young children who are alone in one of the apartments. The Illinois State Police helicopter is being brought in. News choppers are also in the air over the area.
