KUALA LUMPUR: UOA Development Bhd 's earnings for the second quarter ended June 30 , 2017, rose RM41.42mil or 33.3% to RM165.65mil, attributed mainly to progressive recognition of the company's development projects and driven by contribution from South View Serviced Apartments , which were completed during the current quarter. Revenue for the quarter under review was RM465.6 mil, a 57.9% increase over the corresponding quarter in the preceding year. Earnings per share stood at 10.15 sen, up from 8.17 sen in the previous corresponding quarter. However, year to date, UOA has posted a 5% decline in net profit to RM209.02mil compared to the first six months of last year, mainly due to higher cost of sales. At least eight crews and several chief units battled the fire at Carrington Park Apartments on Rideout Lane. Firefighters arrived on scene at about 4:45 p.m. to see heavy flames. The fire appeared to have started on the third floor of Building K and spread to the attic, spokeswoman Ashley McDonald said. Fire, smoke and water damage have forced all of the residents out. The owners of the complex is working with residents to make sure they have a place to stay, McDonald said. There were no injuries, she said. "We don’t know at this time what caused the fire," she said. "The fire marshal is on scene investigating." Battalion Chief Daryl Alexander said in a subsequent news release the bulk of the fire was out around 6 p.m. but crews were expecting to stay on scene well into the evening. BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP , MI (WNEM) - Police said there is a "high probability" the human remains found inside a car pulled from a pond last week are that of a Mid-Michigan man who went missing in the '80s. The 1970s car was pulled from a pond in Buena Vista Township on Aug. 15. It was underwater for years, police said. The body was found shortly after noon on Aug. 15 on a piece of property owned by the Michigan Department of Transportation in Buena Vista Township , according to Buena Vista Township Det . Greg Klecker. The property is located next to a salvage yard on Hack Road. Great Lakes Diving and Salvage were cleaning up the property when one of the divers discovered the Buick Electra 225 while doing a barrel sweep in a small pond on the property. But finding something Brown, 22, could afford near the Lockheed Martin facility on Sand Lake Road was another matter. At $950 a month, even a small one-bedroom apartment was out of reach for the University of Central Florida graduate . UPDATE: The fire at Tivoli Apartments has been declared as an accidental fire with an undetermined cause, stated by Seminole County public information officer Paula Thompson . The Seminole Building Official determined the fire- damaged apartment building is unsafe to enter. Advertisement “This is primarily due to the thousands of gallons of water utilized during extinguishment of the fire that creates a potential risk for a ceiling collapse that could have hundreds of pounds of weight falling on someone inside the structure,” reads a statement released by Seminole County Fire Department . POCATELLO — An Idaho State University student is facing multiple felony charges after police say he held a motorist at knifepoint, forcing the motorist to give him a ride. Police said 23-year-old Saud Khalid Almudaiheem , a student from Saudi Arabia who is living in Pocatello, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one felony charge of second- degree kidnapping . Around 2 a.m. Sunday, police said they received a call from a motorist claiming that Almudaiheem brandished a black box- cutter style knife and demanded a ride from the Jacksons Food Stores on South Fifth Avenue to an area near the Ridgecrest Apartments on Bartz Way.
