Woman falsely identifies herself after reporting kidnapping of her child: Richmond Heights Police Blotter

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio

Custody dispute, Chestnut Drive:

Officers responded to the Loganberry apartment parking lot Aug. 13 after a woman reported her child's father kidnapped her son. When they arrived, the child, 4, was with her and another woman. She was advised to take her son and go home, as officers went to speak with the father and his girlfriend, who were yelling towards them. Both of them were very uncooperative in explaining the events as they had occurred. It was later learned the child's mother, a 23-year-old Cleveland Heights woman, had falsely identified herself and had an active warrant in the city. A warrant for obstructing official business was then entered for her arrest.

Harassing communication, Richmond Park Drive East:

An apartment management employee reported Aug. 8 a tenant is constantly complaining about maintenance issues and harassing the staff. He said they had been having problems with her since July and would be serving her a 30-day eviction notice. An officer contacted the woman, 33, and advised she was going to be evicted. She yelled at them and denied ever acting aggressively toward the staff. Officers advised the employee to call police if the woman caused any further disturbances.

Juvenile complaint, Chardon Road:

Officers responded to a noise complaint at 10:24 p.m. Aug. 11 and found several youths outside the Dorchester apartments. One boy, 16, was subsequently taken into custody for underage alcohol consumption and obstructing official business. He was released to his mother.

Impaired driving, Richmond Road:

A Cleveland woman, 22, charged with OVI and open container after her vehicle was pulled over for speeding at 1:40 a.m. Aug. 12.

Theft, Richmond Park Drive West:

A man reported Aug. 12 his rear license plate was stolen off his vehicle while it was parked in an apartment parking lot overnight. There were no suspects identified.

Criminal trespassing, Loganberry Drive:

Officers responded to the area near the Loganberry apartment's management office Aug. 12 for a report of a tenant who was causing a disturbance. Employees said the man, 25, was complaining about how he pays a lot of money to use the pool and was rapping and swearing around other residents and their children. Officers told the man, 25, the staff wanted him banned from the office, pool and fitness center. He was told he would be arrested for trespassing if he did not comply.

Theft, Chestnut Drive:

A man said Aug. 12 his girlfriend had been driving his vehicle early that morning and was arrested by Willoughby Hills police for having stolen plates on it. Officers spoke to police from that city and were advised the plates were confiscated because they were stolen, but the registration sticker on the plates belonged to the man. Officers explained this to the man, who seemed as equally confused as to how his registration sticker got onto a stolen license plate. He was advised to obtain new plates from the BMV.
