New York rent comparison: What $2,000/month gets you right now
Welcome toCurbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today, we're looking at apartments renting around$2,000/month.
↑ In Crown Heights, a duplex boasting one bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms is renting for $1,999/month. The apartment resides within a prewar building on Pacific Street but it has been given a modern makeover that includes new stainless steel kitchen appliances and what looks like refinished hardwood floors. Renters also gain access to the building’s shared roof deck.
↑ For $1,975, there’s this one-bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a prewar building in Morningside Heights. It’s a fairly standard prewar apartment, though it has some nice details (including frame moldings), a windowed kitchen, and plenty of windows.
↑ A newly renovated one-bedroom, one-bathroom in Bed-Stuy wants $1,999/month. Though small, the kitchen has been decked out with stainless steel appliances and open shelves while the living room has exposed brick walls and oversized windows.
↑ Head to Elmhurst, Queens, and you can score a 600-square-foot luxury rental for $1,995/month. The one-bedroom apartment has hardwood floors throughout, a corner kitchen, an open living/dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, and floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom with views of … Queens Boulevard.
↑ This charming Upper West Side studio right across the street from Riverside Park is going for $2,000/month. The kitchen is tiny and dated but if cooking isn’t really your thing anyway, it likely won’t be a deal breaker. There’s a decorative fireplace, built-in bookshelves, a decent amount of natural light, and some closet space.
↑ Lastly, another studio, this one on the Upper East Side, is asking $1,995/month. The space is quite cute, with details like wall cut-outs, French doors, and a sleep alcove that could qualify the apartment as a junior one-bedroom.
*Editor’s note: Out original Crown Heights rental option— a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment— has been replaced with the current unit due to a price increase that made it no longer a candidate for this week’s Curbed Comparisons.
