A man was shot and critically wounded Wednesday night as he drove by what authorities called a “known drug house,” police said. The motorist drove to an apartment complex where he sought help. The man was listed in critical condition. Police responded to the shooting call shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 4300 block of Montecito Way at the Meridian Apartments. Officers determined the victim was driving by the house on North Elm Street when an unknown man armed with assault rifle walked out of the residence and opened fire. The motorist was hit in the abdomen, police said. The victim was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth .

SAN ANTONIO - A man was shot multiple times and later died early Wednesday morning at an apartment complex on the Northeast Side , San Antonio police said. Late Wednesday morning , the man was identified as 20-year-old Deandre Thompson. Officers initally responded to a call for shots fired around 2:30 a.m. at the Whispering Hills Apartments in the 13600 block of O'Connor Road. Police found Thompson and said he had been shot three times in the chest and once in the neck. He was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment, but pronounced dead just after 3 a.m. Witnesses tell police they saw two men run from the apartment to another complex nearby after shots were fired. No arrests had been made as of noon on Wednesday. "It scares me because this neighborhood, this complex has never been like that and it's getting real scary," said resident Josie Arredando . Police say about 80 shots were fired in the 10:50 p.m. incident. Afterward, Heaven Lynn Townsend , 21, of Youngstown lay dead a short distance from where the children were playing. “Me and my daughter were washing dishes, and we heard gunfire, and we immediately dropped to the ground,” Naomi Faison said.
