The child, identified as Liam Hardy, had "too much smoke inhalation" and his lungs stopped functioning , resulting in life support machines being turned off, said Benjamin Reed, the boy's uncle.  The 4-year-old was pronounced dead at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Robinson whipped, kicked and beat the 2-year-old to death on Christmas Eve. Reed watched. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced the pleas Thursday. Robinson pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony, Reed pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in connection with the death and the living environment that was discovered in their Yonkers home on Christmas Eve. At 8:14 p.m. Dec. 24, 2016, Robinson walked into the emergency room at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers carrying his 2-year-old son and reported to the staff that the child was not breathing. An investigation into a possible robbery led police to an alleged arranged drug deal that landed one man in the hospital and three in jail.   Milledgeville Police were called to Oconee Regional Medical Center around 7:12 p.m. Tuesday to speak with a recently admitted patient , claiming to have been injured during a basketball game.  “ Hospital staff advised officers of a young male arriving at the hospital at 4:45 p.m., showing signs of a head injury. According to the staff there, the victim told them that he had gotten injured while playing basketball with friends,” said Maj. A masked man robbed a pizza delivery man at gunpoint early Friday at a northeast Odessa apartment building and ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police made no arrests in the aggravated robbery of the 26-year-old Domino’s Pizza delivery driver who went to the Brookview Apartments, 3843 Penbrook St., to deliver about $23 worth of pizza when he got held-up, the Odessa Police Department reported . Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call at 1:20 a.m. about an armed robbery and sent officers to Buffalo Wild Wings . MANILA, Philippines - A retired police official and his son were killed in an ambush in Mandaluyong City yesterday . Former Chief Inspector Hoover Pascual , 54, used to head the drug enforcement units (DEUs) of Mandaluyong and San Juan. He and his son Bryan Henrick , 33, died on their way to a hospital from gunshot wounds in their heads and bodies. “We are initially eyeing his former jobs as DEU chief in two cities,” said Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula , Eastern Police District director , adding that Pascual accomplished a lot in the war against illegal drugs. A 24-year-old man is wanted for questioning in the Friday evening shooting of a woman at a Benton City apartment . Christian M. Hernandez has been named as a “person of interest” by the Benton County Sheriff ’s Office. Hernandez, who’s also known as “Lil Criminal” and “Phat Boy,” is believed to be armed and dangerous. He is suspected of shooting Mariah Coronado in the back with a rifle. Coronado, 22, was inside the apartment at Eighth Street and Della Avenue with several other people when she was shot, Sheriff Jerry Hatcher has said. He initially said that investigators weren’t sure if the shooting was accidental or intentional. Coronado was picked up by an acquaintance and driven to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, according to an update from the sheriff’s office. Deputies responded to the hospital after being alerted by medical staff about a gunshot victim. She is still being treated for her injuries. Hernandez, 24, was picked up at 6:30 p.m. by the Benton County sheriff ’s gang enforcement team . Hernandez, who’s also known as “Lil Criminal” and “Phat Boy,” is being held on investigation of illegal gun possession and a hold from the state Department of Corrections. Mariah Coronado, 22, was shot in the back Aug. 18 at an apartment at Eighth Street and Della Avenue. Several other people were in the apartment at the time. 2:30 p.m. Norberta LaFontaine-Greywind sends her 16-year-old son to the upstairs apartment to get his sister, who was to drive him to work. Her brother knocks on the door, but no one answers. He hears what he thinks is a sewing machine running in the apartment. Savanna's father, Joe Greywind, then knocks on the upstairs apartment door . A woman answers the door and says Savanna will be a bit longer. 2:40 p.m. Norberta LaFontaine-Greywind drives her son to work. She returns to the apartment building about 3:15 p.m. and, assuming her daughter is in her room, does some laundry. About 4:30 p.m. Norberta LaFontaine-Greywind knocks on the upstairs apartment door and is told that her daughter has left. Savanna's mother then calls Fargo police to report her daughter missing. EDEN, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a North Carolina police officer shot and wounded a suspect fleeing the scene of a double stabbing. Eden Police Department Capt . John Edwards tells local news outlets that officers and Rockingham County sheriff 's deputies responded at 2:30 p.m. Thursday to a reported assault at an apartment complex. Officers had been told that a 44-year-old woman and a 7-year-old child had been stabbed. A man suspected in the stabbings had fled on foot. Edwards says officers found the suspect on a nearby street and that officers shot him during the confrontation. He was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The stabbing victims were treated at a local hospital . Edwards says the woman, child and stabbing suspect all survived their injuries. No other information was immediately released.

But on January 23, 1998, which was a Friday, friends of the late writer Kathy Acker drove from San Francisco to Fort Funston, about twenty-five minutes away, to scatter her ashes. She’d died two months earlier at an alternative clinic in Tijuana, where she received palliative care for late-stage, metastasized cancer. The ash scattering—like the wake at Bob Glück’s house on December 13 and the memorial reading at Slim’s Bar where Michelle Handelman was booed off the stage for no reason she can recall—devolved into a kind of black comedy, the way these things often do.
