UPPER WEST SIDE , NY — The NYPD is investigating the death of a 56-year-old woman who fatally fell 15 stories from an Upper West Side building as a suicide, an NYPD spokesman told Patch . The woman was found on the second-story scaffolding outside 820 West End Avenue , located on the corner of West 100th Street , shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday night, police said. She was unconscious and unresponsive and paramedics declared her dead on the scene, police said. The woman was not identified by police. The NYPD believes the woman jumped from her friend's 16th floor apartment , a department spokesperson told Patch . NEW YORK -- Federal agents say they seized 20 pounds of fentanyl and heroin in an Aug. 4 raid of an apartment building in New York City's Upper West Side neighborhood , across the street from Central Park, reports CBS New York. The drugs are valued at more than $3 million, according to investigators.   Drug Enforcement Administration Special -Agent-in- Charge James Hunt said that much fentanyl could prove deadly to a large population if handled improperly. "Twenty pounds of fentanyl in its purest form is potent enough to kill half the population of New York City," Hunt said. "So it's not good to have in a residential building, obviously. You know, if somebody spills it coming out of the building, it could pose a danger to the public." Hunt said breathing in or ingesting fentanyl through pores can be fatal. A woman took a fatal plunge from the 16th floor of an Upper West Side building on Wednesday and cops are looking into whether she was the victim of foul play. The 56-year-old woman fell from an apartment window on West End Ave. by W. 100th St. onto a second-floor landing just after 6:10 p.m., police said. She didn’t live there, and when officer got inside the flat, they found it vacant, cops said. Neighbors said police saw the man who lives in the apartment walking into the building, and took him in for questioning. A 12- unit apartment building in Tacoma near University Place went up in flames Tuesday afternoon , resulting in a partial roof collapse , Tacoma fire officials said. The two-alarm fire at 2602 Westridge Ave. West started at about 4 p.m. and caused damage to all 12 apartments in the building, but no one was believed to be hurt or missing, said Tacoma Fire Department spokesman Joe Meinecke . By 5:45 p.m., the fire had been mostly contained but firefighters were still working to control hot spots . When first responders arrived, they were greeted by flames and smoke coming out of the back side of one building at the Boulders at Puget Sound apartment complex .
