Nearly all residents of the McPherson Park senior housing complex have returned to their residences after a kitchen fire broke out in an apartment Friday night , a Gloucester Housing Authority administrator said Monday. The building’s construction played a role in firefighters being able to confine the blaze to the single unit, said  Fire Chief Eric Smith and Alice Sheridan, assistant executive director of the  housing authority , which owns and manages the six-story building at 31 Prospect St. The man whose apartment was destroyed by the kitchen fire has been relocated to another apartment within the 97-unit building, Sheridan said.  Neither she nor Smith could provide information Monday on the status of a woman who was rescued by firefighters and taken to Addison Gilbert Hospital after she fell inside her fourth- floor apartment while trying to evacuate. KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — The investigation into the fire that killed two people in a Kentwood apartment Friday morning centers on two questions: What cause the fire and did smoke detectors go off? For most of the residents of the building at Wingate Apartment complex , the first sign of trouble came with a panicked, middle of the night warning. “The window was opened and we heard a woman screaming there is a fire! There is a fire,” said Rachel Dotson-Hackworth, who lives next to the building where the fire happened. Kentwood firefighters arrived in minutes and pulled the victims from the lower level apartment , but it was too late. The victims have been identified as Mary Hopkins, 51 and 61-year-old Edward Newhouse who lived in the apartment together. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, which started in a bed. One clue may be the smoking habits of one of the victims. “There are several other causes that we need to eliminate, and smoking is one of them,” Kentw...

Trishten Mcafee, 12, embraced his chance to see his first professional baseball game at field level after throwing first pitch. “I throw hard like LeBron James and James Harden thrown together hard,” he said. Mcafee sounded ready . However, he still felt nervous knowing that his future, in part, hung on each Skeeters at-bat. Every home run hit on Friday’s “Night of Hope” earned $500 donations from the American Business Machine company , which sponsored the event. REDDING, Calif. - People were back to their usual activities at the Shadowbrook Apartments Saturday after their daily routines were put on hold Friday afternoon . Redding police and S.W.A.T. teams camped outside the complex for almost eight hours after learning wanted felon Michael Felsch was staying in one of the apartments. Christy Fox was painting her daughter's room when she got a call from her son, asking if she was safe. "I was like what are you talking about? Oh Tallahassee, how you surprised me with your amazing placing to visit and amazing dining experiences . Home to Florida State University and the capital city of Florida, there’s a lot to be said for this interesting town . The vibe is very small town but with an artsy flare. Seems like everywhere I looked, there was art to be found. Many of the sides of the building there had the most amazing paintings and there was so much to look at. It satisfied the artsy side of me so much to just be a part of this thriving city for a couple days. Not only was the art scene amazing but this town hosts some pretty cool history as well. But I’ll wait to share more about that on further down. 😉 My husband and I enjoyed spending the weekend in this town (we were past due for a trip without our kids) but quickly realized how kid-friendly this town is.
