THREE OAKS – No injuries were reported in an early morning fire that caused the evacuation of a 16-unit, two- story apartment building in Three Oaks on Saturday, Aug. 19. Fire Chief David Flick said the alarm of a structure fired came in at 5:40 a.m. and the middle section of the roof was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the Hidden Harbor Villas (formerly Oak Tree Apartments ) at 305 W. Locust St. The fire took about three hours to bring under control and wasn’t totally cleared until approximately 2 p.m. Peter Trigg said he came home from work at about 5:40 a.m. and immediately smelled burning plastic and heard popping sounds , went around to the back of the building and noticed that a second-floor unit’s deck was on fire. “I ran in, pulled the fire alarm as quick as I could, ran up the stairs and got my family out,” he said. COLLEGE STATION - 21 people are without a place to live Monday night after an early morning apartment fire caused major damage at the Campus View Apartments in College Station . Fire officials announced late Monday afternoon the cause of the fire was related to a heating unit located in the ceiling of an upstairs apartment . News 3 looks at why the fire spread so quickly. KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — The investigation into the fire that killed two people in a Kentwood apartment Friday morning centers on two questions: What cause the fire and did smoke detectors go off? For most of the residents of the building at Wingate Apartment complex , the first sign of trouble came with a panicked, middle of the night warning. “The window was opened and we heard a woman screaming there is a fire! There is a fire,” said Rachel Dotson-Hackworth, who lives next to the building where the fire happened. Kentwood firefighters arrived in minutes and pulled the victims from the lower level apartment , but it was too late. The victims have been identified as Mary Hopkins, 51 and 61-year-old Edward Newhouse who lived in the apartment together. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire, which started in a bed. One clue may be the smoking habits of one of the victims. “There are several other causes that we need to eliminate, and smoking is one of them,” Kentw...

Six people have been displaced after an early morning fire at a northwest Austin apartment . The fire started around 5:30 am. at the San Marin Apartments on Duval just west of MoPac. Officials say the fire began on a third floor balcony and spread to the attic. Two units were damaged and officials say they are unlivable. 16 units in total were affected. No one was hurt. Officials say the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking material . The estimated cost of damages are $200,000 for structural and $45,000 for content.

Fire on Hampton Avenue (FOX Carolina/ August 24, 2017) GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) - Firefighters are investigating what sparked a fire at an apartment building in Greenville early Thursday morning . Firefighters responded to the blaze at an apartment building along the 1100 block of Hampton Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. and said flames could be seen coming from the building. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a small kitchen fire in far North Dallas early Sunday morning . Department spokesman Jason Evans told NBCDFW there were no injuries reported. The fire broke out around 7:00 a.m. at the Meadow Crest Apartments in the 5200 block of Meadow creek Drive . Residents told NBCDFW that eight apartments were evacuated. It's not known what started a fire that swept through two apartment buildings in El Reno. No one was hurt. EL RENO, Oklahoma - Flames swept through two empty apartment buildings in El Reno early Tuesday morning . Around 3 a.m., someone spotted flames at the Amberwood Apartments at 801 Willie Miner Avenue . Two separate buildings were on fire. Both buildings were empty because they were being renovated. Crews quickly put out the flames. No one was hurt. It's not known yet what caused the fire.

Authorities released the identity of a man who apparently killed himself with a gunshot to the head Monday after a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend and another man in San Rafael. The coroner’s office identified the man as Manuel Avila Primero , 35, of San Rafael. Coroner’s investigator Kenneth Advincula said Tuesday a forensic examination and toxicology tests are scheduled for Wednesday. Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks. The case appears to be a suicide but the investigation is continuing, San Rafael police said. According to the preliminary investigation, a woman who lives in the 200 block of Canal Street went to a nightclub with a male friend on Sunday evening. Her ex-boyfriend, Primero, approached at the club and asked her to dance, and she declined. ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Authorities in Lehigh County have arrested a 44-year-old who allegedly broke into a house and stole TVs from a senior housing complex and an apartment building over a roughly five-day span.
