REDDING, Calif. - People were back to their usual activities at the Shadowbrook Apartments Saturday after their daily routines were put on hold Friday afternoon . Redding police and S.W.A.T. teams camped outside the complex for almost eight hours after learning wanted felon Michael Felsch was staying in one of the apartments. Christy Fox was painting her daughter's room when she got a call from her son, asking if she was safe. "I was like what are you talking about? So he told me to come down and look and S.W.A.T. was here, and there was like four or five different cop cars and they actually had their guns drawn, and I was kind of scared cause I didn't know which unit they were trying to go in or out of," Fox said. He hears what he thinks is a sewing machine running in the apartment. Savanna's father, Joe Greywind, then knocks on the upstairs apartment door . A woman answers the door and says Savanna will be a bit longer. 2:40 p.m. Norberta LaFontaine-Greywind drives her son to work. She returns to the apartment building about 3:15 p.m. and, assuming her daughter is in her room, does some laundry. But on January 23, 1998, which was a Friday, friends of the late writer Kathy Acker drove from San Francisco to Fort Funston, about twenty-five minutes away, to scatter her ashes. She’d died two months earlier at an alternative clinic in Tijuana, where she received palliative care for late-stage, metastasized cancer.
