University Place apartments on the rise, office building next | Orem News

OREM -- If you think you've been hearing about the University Mall development becoming a major development called University Place for a long time, you're right. As early as April 2013, members of the Orem City Council and department heads were informed of preliminary discussions on the development and were asked to sign non-disclosure statements. All the council members except Brent Sumner signed the agreements. It wasn't until the cat was let out of the bag at the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Summit in September 2013 that people finally got an idea of what was in the works. At that summit, Coldwell Banker executive agent Brandon Fugal announced University Mall would undergo a huge transformation, introducing its own business park and housing developments along with additional retail expansion . "It will be Utah County's equivalent of City Creek," said Fugal at the time, comparing the Orem project to the redeveloped mall in downtown Sal...

Idle Wilbur site in downtown Lititz eyed for hotel, apartments, bistro and shops | Insider

Image
Lancaster- based Oak Tree Development Group said it has agreed to buy the 11-acre property from Wilbur’s owner, Cargill, for an undisclosed price. “We like projects that are community-centric,” said Oak Tree President Mike O’Brien. “We’re excited to do a project that positively impacts a small town like this.” Oak Tree expects to submit plans to the borough in 60 days. The firm hopes to get them approved by year-end, start construction in early 2018 and complete the venture by March 2019. A name for the project has yet to be selected, said O’Brien. He declined to disclose the project’s cost. “We’re eager to work with Oak Tree,” said Karen Weibel, president of Lititz’s Borough Council . “It’s a local firm. They have a lot of credibility. We’re extremely thankful that the building will be utilized quickly, and not sit there for five or 10 years and invite blight.” Mayor Tim Snyder also was enthusiastic about the plan, saying the new uses “will enhance downtown Lititz . ... 11 derelict or empty sites in the North East - and what is happening to them

Image
Some of these sites have been lying empty for years or have become eyesores. It’s never good to see a building or piece of land being unused, especially well-known landmarks and once-loved attractions. But these places may not stay like that for long as plans have been made to redevelop them. Here we have put together a list of some of Tyneside’s derelict sites or vacant buildings and see what’s being done to bring them back to life. 1. Tynemouth Outdoor Pool, North Tyneside Tynemouth outdoor pool on Longsands beach" src="src" /> As it looks today: Tynemouth outdoor pool on Longsands beach The lido, at the southern end of Longsands beach in Tynemouth, was once a major attraction. It originally opened in 1925 and became a popular destination for locals and visitors. However, the pool’s popularity began to drop in the 1970s when cheap package holidays and indoor pools both started to become available. Shadowbrook Apartments - Reviews - Roseville, CA - 400 Forest Knoll Dr - Apartments

3 400 Forest Knoll Dr Roseville , CA 95678 (916) 781-2565 As you can tell from the below reviews, this place is a joke! I would definitely not recommend moving here. The management (if you can call them that) are horrible! They are so lazy and unprofessional and you have to harass them to get anything done. The office manager comes and go as she pleases. They never give the tenants notices if they are going to leave early or take a day off. The lady in the office seriously locks the door and sleeps all day at her desk. You walk in the back door and see the drool running down her face. Unbelievable! I have lived in a lot of apartments, and the response and accountability of Shadowbrook is by far the worse I have ever encountered. On more than one occasion, we had an emergency work order (due to a massive ceiling leak ) and called both the mgmt and the emergency maintenance line . We probably called 50+ times in one day, but of course no answer or return call. Finally I left work earl...

In NoMad, a 55-Story Condo Tries to Peek Out From the Pack

Image
“I think buyers will appreciate it,” said Mr. Korolik, who explained that the original development site , which he purchased in 2014, consisted of just three lots, meaning that he could have built a 35-story tower, at best. Air rights can be sold by a building that has not been constructed to its maximum allowable height . Those rights can be shifted around and sold, though mostly between buildings that are side by side. Photo A model of the new 130-unit condo. Credit Katherine Marks for The New York Times Mr. Korolik added, “But developers are like teachers and parents. We do a whole lot of work, but sometimes we are underappreciated.” Of course, not everybody will be able to live in the upper stories of the spire, which is designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, a firm whose portfolio includes skyscrapers like 432 Park Avenue. But in an unusual move, every apartment is a corner unit with two exposures, which developers say will especially help residents of lower floors enjoy their f...

Austin Auditor: Demolition process needs revamp

Image
AUSTIN - All across Austin, there are structures being torn down and replaced with new buildings. In the fiscal years 2015 and 2016 the city approved approximately 1 ,700 demolition permits, compared to about 600 in 2008. "My walk to work used to be just like little old buildings and now there's like, on Chicon, they're like building all those apartments and stuff," said Lindsay Scheckelhoff who moved to East Austin two years ago.  Her neighborhood is filled with homes being renovated or demolished and rebuilt. "It just kind of happens and you're like 'oh that was there yesterday and now it's gone,'" Scheckelhoff said.  Neighbors aren't the only ones who aren't in the loop about demolition projects. "It's up to the property owner to notify, whether it's Austin Energy or Austin Water that that demolition is going to happen," explained City Auditor Corrie Stokes . "And then also to call the city for an inspection ...
