That revelation, plus the fact the street could be closed for up to 12 weeks during stadium construction and renovation of the Prince Charles Hotel , were part of a baseball update and web portal unveiling at the Greater Fayetteville Chamber . City leaders discussed details on the impact of construction downtown and introduced three committees connected to the stadium project. More than 50 people jammed the chamber’s conference room on Maxwell Street. Over the course of about 60 minutes, officials from the chamber, the city and the Houston Astros shared details on how downtown may be altered during and after construction of the $33 million stadium and surrounding private projects . The stadium is expected to be ready for Opening Day in April 2019; the city and the Astros have a lease for the team to play there...

There has been a reported shooting at the Whispering Pines Apartment Complex Tuesday night according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff ’s Department. One man was shot after two suspects reportedly attacked him while leaving his vehicle. Deputies and a K-9 unit were sent to the area in search for the two suspects. Detectives say they received a call of a man shot around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Coventry Court. The man was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital for treatment. MOBILE, AL (WKRG) — Mobile Fire-Rescue is asking for the public’s help to identify an arson suspect seen running off into the woods on Tuesday. Mobile Fire investigators released photos of the man accused of setting a fire at Oak Ridge Apartments on Moffett Road Tuesday afternoon .  The suspect was approached for questioning but ran away from investigators and into the woods off Wolf Ridge Road . Witnesses say the suspect then entered a silver sedan and escaped.  The driver of the vehicle could also face charges. The suspect is a black male believed to be in his late teens or early twenties. He is wanted for possible first-degree arson, resisting arrest and failure to obey an officer. Westchester Plaza has shut down and its 100-plus residents, most of them low-income and disabled, have moved, authorities said. Westchester, at northeast corner of Summit and Pennsylvania avenues, was one of the largest assisted-living centers in Texas that supported Medicaid recipients . The facility has weathered financial hardships and complaints from residents over the years concerning inadequate staffing and other issues. Its owners said they shuttered the facility because it was too hard to operate in the current regulatory environment and with changes to Medicaid. The residents were told in July that they had until Thursday to move out. One resident, a 61-year-old resident dead outside the building on July 17, slumped over in his wheelchair.
