Authorities released the identity of a man who apparently killed himself with a gunshot to the head Monday after a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend and another man in San Rafael. The coroner’s office identified the man as Manuel Avila Primero , 35, of San Rafael. Coroner’s investigator Kenneth Advincula said Tuesday a forensic examination and toxicology tests are scheduled for Wednesday. Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks. The case appears to be a suicide but the investigation is continuing, San Rafael police said. According to the preliminary investigation, a woman who lives in the 200 block of Canal Street went to a nightclub with a male friend on Sunday evening. Her ex-boyfriend, Primero, approached at the club and asked her to dance, and she declined. Primero left the club, but he showed up at her apartment early Monday morning , and the other man from the nightclub was there with her. Aug. 24--An Austin developer has changed course on plans to revamp a San Marcos shopping center . Since taking control of Springtown Center in 2014, Endeavor Real Estate has landed a number of high-profile tenants to fill what was, at the time, a sickly strip mall that was only 10 percent occupied. Additions have included heavy hitters such as Chuy's, Gold's Gym and The Spot, an entertainment venue. While Endeavor had initially been in talks with a number of interested retailers to fill the remaining space in the shopping center , the developer has decided to go another route. Instead, it is demolishing a chunk of the center between Chuy's and the former Target store that's now home to Gold's Gym and The Spot to make way for a multi- story apartment building that will have 233 units with 32,000 square feet of ground- floor retail space . The apartment shooting took place off of Woodmere Boulevard at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. A Montgomery man was fatally shot in the Woodmere at the Lake apartment complex off Woodmere Boulevard Thursday night , the Montgomery Advertiser reports . According to the report, police arrived on the scene at 1400 Stonehendge Place at 4:30 p.m. to find a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene, making the shooting Montgomery 's 24th homicide of the year.  Montgomery Police Department spokesman Captain Ron Cook told the newspaper that a couple pulled into the apartment, got out of their car and began arguing with another couple. The woman from the couple at the apartment then went inside of an apartment to get a gun, according to the report. WSFA reports that the woman shot the man from the arriving couple when he attempted to point her hand carrying the gun away from his body, but failed when she turned around to shoot him one time in the chest...

It's not known what started a fire that swept through two apartment buildings in El Reno. No one was hurt. EL RENO, Oklahoma - Flames swept through two empty apartment buildings in El Reno early Tuesday morning . Around 3 a.m., someone spotted flames at the Amberwood Apartments at 801 Willie Miner Avenue . Two separate buildings were on fire. Both buildings were empty because they were being renovated. Crews quickly put out the flames. No one was hurt. It's not known yet what caused the fire.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Five kids and their parents escaped a burning apartment overnight in southwest Houston. It happened at the Rama Apartment complex on Woodfair. A neighbor says he and his brother raced to the burning apartment with fire extinguishers, but the intense flames prevented them from getting closer. They said the odor of smoke was the first sign of trouble for them. "I started smelling it and [it was] the best I could've done," said neighbor Carlos Portillo . "I tried to get inside, but it was too hot so I came outside and waited for the firefighters." Portillo also said the children living in the apartment were what concerned him the most, but fortunately, the family managed to get out. Two rooms of the apartment were destroyed. It’s been a while since we checked in with the skyscraper rising at 118 Fulton Street , and new construction site photos by NyConstructionPhoto reveal that building is likely on track to reach its 2018 completion deadline. When we last checked in with the project in the fall of 2015, the building was just about getting off the ground. Plans at that time differed slightly with Carmel Partners planning a 49- story building with 483 apartments. That plan has changed since with the building now set to have 63 stories and stand 758 feet tall . The apartment count meanwhile has remained the same, even though there was speculation last year that it had come down slightly to 476. Texas Tech University participated in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) 2017 self- reporting Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) survey regarding environmental sustainability on college campuses, earning a spot on this year’s Sierra Club’s “Cool School” list. Rankings for the list were compiled from raw data from the STARS self- reporting tool . MONROE COUNTY, WV (WVVA) - Emergency crews save lives , but without them, patients risk dying if they don't get to a hospital on time. Monroe County avoided the cancellation of a Union- based ambulance service by requiring a yearly fee. "It's very important that the commission has ambulance and medical services for our community," said Monroe County Commissioner , Shane Ashley. The Monroe County Commission voted unanimously to adopt an Emergency Ambulance Fee Ordinance of $100 per household and Monroe County Commissioner Shane Ashley explains why it's needed.  "Reimbursements were enough from the government and insurance companies to cover the cost, and now that they're reduced, the cost is not being covered and it's just unsustainable," Ashley said. According to a press release, three men forced entry into a residence around midnight and demanded property from a man living there. One of the robbers was armed with a gun. Then all three men fled the scene. The suspects were described as three black males with average builds and heights. They were last seen wearing hooded sweatshirts . There were no reported injuries but there was some minor property damage inside the apartment. The fire broke out at the Devonshire Apartments at 27th and Mountain View Drive West Tuesday morning . Officials said all occupants at the complex were accounted for and no one was hurt, but eight adults and 11 children were displaced as a result of the fire.  The Red Cross will offer them assistance.
