A 9-year-old boy abducted by his father after the slaying of his mother – which prompted an Amber Alert – was in protective custody Wednesday after police shot and killed the man in Encino. The officer- involved shooting occurred about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday on the 5500 block of Lindley Avenue near Killion Street, said Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Justin Eisenberg . Konstantin Morozov, 48, brought his son, Daniel Morozov, to a friend’s apartment, and police found them after receiving a tip, Eisenberg said. The elder Morozov, who was suspected of fatally shooting Daniel ’s mother and then abducting the boy Monday in Santa Maria in northern Santa Barbara County , emerged from the apartment and confronted officers, prompting an officer-involved shooting, Eisenberg said. GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Police in a New York City suburb have charged three teenagers in connection with a fatal shooting. The Journal News reports (http://lohud.us/2ijQUR5 ) a 16-year-old boy has been charged with multiple offenses including first-degree manslaughter. The teen's 18-year-old brother and another 18-year-old man both face charges of criminal possession of a firearm and tampering with physical evidence. Police say the three teens were involved in the fatal shooting of Joseph Smith III , of Greenburgh. Investigators say Smith was shot to death in the stairwell of a Greenburgh apartment complex Thursday . Police say the Smith was targeted by the suspects. According to authorities, police recovered a gun at the apartment of one of the suspects after obtaining a search warrant. MILTON, Wash. — A police officer opened fire and killed a gunman Monday after the man fatally shot his stepsister he was holding next to him in the parking lot of the Sunridge Apartments in Milton, police said. “Evidence recovered thus far indicated this was likely a ‘murder-suicide by cop’ incident,” a Milton Police Department news release said Monday night. Milton police officers responded at about 2 p.m. to a report of a man with a gun near a woman in the parking lot of the Sunridge Apartments at 6926 5th Street East in Milton. “It appeared the male suspect in this case had his arm wrapped around the female. They were engaged in some type of conversation,” said Puyallup police spokesman Scott Engle . The manhunt continued Thursday for the shooter who killed a 22-year-old man at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida on Wednesday. Colin Marcel Jackson was identified Thursday as the man found dead inside an apartment at Campus Crossing Alafaya about 6:30 p.m., officials said. "Witnesses reported seeing the victim and an unknown black male involved in an altercation prior to hearing the shots," said Lourdes Clayton, spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff 's Office. Jackson was not a UCF student and it's unclear if he lived in the apartment complex, officials said. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Residents of an east Albany apartment complex are scared after bullets flew into their homes. Police said that at least four apartments were hit by bullets Tuesday night. 15 people and many children were in those homes. Fortunately, no one was hurt.  Many of the shooting victims contacted WALB , saying they need help. The residents told us they have heard gunshots for several nights, but last night's was by far the worst. A bullet went through one woman's apartment window around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
