Developer Lou Lecce pulled the application for the Whispering Pines senior complex at the end of a two- hour Town Board public hearing on the project Wednesday night . It was the second hearing in three weeks at which many Helderbeg Avenue neighbors spoke against the concept. "It's off the table. We're done," Lecce told the Town Board, after a series of verbal exchanges between Town Board members and the audience. We travelled 26 July to 9 August. We booked as a package holiday through Virgin. We are a family of 5, with 16, 12 and 4 year olds and we had the 3 bed 2 bathroom option . Rooms were huge, and adequately equipped. There was plenty of hanging and storage space (other than in the kitchen) and we had a safe. Kitchen well equipped with microwave, massive fridge, large oven and hob, enough cutlery and crockery and a dish washer. We found it easy to cook simple meals and had enough kitchen items to do this only thing we had missing was a baking tray but we made do. We didn't add any cleaning or maid services to our package, mainly to save a bit of money. There was a hoover and dustpan and brush for use, so it depends what you want from your holiday, me and my hubby were quite happy to run round with a hoover or surface spray (which we bought) while the other bathed our 4 year old and put him to bed. We stayed here for 5 nights and had a fantastic time. The apartments are spotlessly clean and beautifully laid out with modern, yet relaxing, decoration. They are located right in the centre of the quiet old town which is mostly pedestrian and no cars allowed. The bed was really comfortable and it was so nice to sit on the big balcony for breakfast. The kitchen was well equipped with a fantastic induction hob , coffee percolator, kettle, toaster and pots, pans and cutlery. There is a separate entrance and a modern lift to all floors. The bathroom was spacious and we'll appointed with a full bath which was wonderful after a day at Pompeii. The staff are all very friendly and the general manager extremely helpful (and charming). There is a bar/restaurant downstairs which serves breakfast or there are numerous other cafes and trattoria close by.
