Developers could break ground on at least three multifamily housing complexes this year in and around Lombard, village officials say. Bill Heniff, director of community development, said numerous apartment ideas have been brought to the village in recent months -- including the possibility of a 120-unit building being constructed on the site of the old DuPage Theatre -- but only three have completed, or are close to completing, the entitlement process. If those three projects are built, Lombard will be home to 547 new rental units and 100 new townhouse units. A market analysis of the village recently completed by Tracy Cross & Associates shows significant demand for more apartments in the Lombard area. ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Orlando tourist strip known most for attracting conventioneers and thrill-seeking visitors — International Drive — is getting another identity. In recent years, thousands of full-time residents have moved into apartments built on the southern end of the 11-mile corridor, which has been renowned for industry gatherings, shopping and attractions. Plans call for thousands more renters — and schools. "It's kind of the rebranding of I-Drive right now," said Luann Brooks, executive director of the I- Drive Business Improvement District . The letter to Kushner Companies came in response to a May 23 article co-published by ProPublica and The New York Times Magazine investigating management practices at the rental complexes, most of which are in the suburbs of Baltimore, as well as an article this week in The Baltimore Sun that revealed additional details . PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Parma Heights police are investigating whether a series of armed robberies are connected after multiple people were robbed at two different apartment complexes . The robberies happened Sunday and Monday in Parma Heights at Hidden Cove Apartments north of Pearl Road and Big Creek Apartments and Townhomes off of Stumph Road, police say. No one was hurt in any of the robberies, and no arrests have been made. The first two robberies happened Sunday  about 4:30 p.m. at Hidden Cove Apartments , Detective Adam Sloan said. Three women went to the apartment complex to meet a friend. When they got to the apartment building door , three men with semi-automatic handguns stole their purses, cellphones and keys, Sloan said. The three men robbed another man who went to the apartment complex to meet one of his friends. Shane Stevenson, 31, was arraigned Friday in Cheektowaga Town Court on two counts of second-degree murder in the slaying of a woman and her 7-year-old son Thursday. No bail was set. Stevenson pleaded not guilty. He did not say anything else in court. Raina Voll, 30, and her 7-year-old son, Leo Klinger, were found dead at their home in the Kingswood Apartments in Cheektowaga Thursday evening . Police would not say how the two died. Another child, a 2-year old, was found safe behind a nearby church, police said.
